Champions League Group Stage Preview (24/12/2013 09:47)

The moment you've all waited for is here. The ManagerLeague Chamipons League begins!

The CL draw for season 109 was made at the beginning of the season with several changes made at the allocations: The leagues of Argentina, Poland, Portugal and Spain lost a spot, all of them remain with 2 spots except Argentina with 1 spot. The reserved spots went to the leagues of Australia, Canada, Germany and the USA. Australia and Canada now have 2 spots on CL while Germany and the USA now have 3 spots.

So let's see what awaits us this season:

Group A:
Los Cruzados (Sweden)
Phoenix Baia Mare (Romania)
Black and White Dreamers (Poland)
Halifax City (Canada)
The Red Warriors (Malaysia)
Las Leonas (Argentina)
Parma AC (Serbia)
Comtek (Baltic)

BWD comes as a favourite to top the group along with Cruzados but Comtek and Baia Mare might pull a surprise or two. Experience needed to be taken into consideration though, as BWD never made it to the KO before nor Baia Mare while Comtek and Cruzados have and even won the CL once.

Group B:
P1cass0 (International)
Beachlife (England)
Craiova - Maxima (USA)
Levski Bulgaria (Bulgaria)
FC Brescia (Italy)
The Evil Looking Clowns (Netherlands)
Royal FC (Vietnam)
All Spurs (Thailand)

A very tough group with 4 teams around the same Q. Royal, the CL Runner-Up, and Levski, the SU Holder, will be tested by Beachlife and Craiova. Brescia is a dark horse in this group, hoping to pull some shockable results. Former CL Champions P1cas0 will try to return to their golden age.

Group C:
The Busby Babes (Sweden)
Dinamo Zaragoza (Spain)
Kavalacio FC (Greece)
Northcountry Timberwolves (Canada)
Aslansaray (Turkey)
PS NanGo (Indonesia)
KA Barcelona (Hungary)
Rene1293 (Arab)

Former CL Champions Barcelona are undoubtly the team to beat here, with Zaragoza and Kavalacio, the SU Runner-Up,  fighting for second place. Busby, Timberwolves and NanGo can be proved to be hard to beat, though they'll need to put numerous surprises in order to advance.

Group D:
Ghostriders (Norway)
Hotspurs FC (England)
FC Future Ghosts (USA)
A Portuguesa de Desportos (Brazil)
Krazy Kickers (Malaysia)
FC Boom (Belgium)
FC GPRO (Germany)
Royal Arsenal FC (India)

The first group so far that none of its teams made it ever to a Final in both CL and SU. The Norwegian Super-Stars are the favourite to top the group with Hotspurs and Future Ghosts fighting for second. GPRO and Royal Arsenal are no bot teams either and the games against them could be decisive.

Group E:
Gr8 Angelz (Norway)
Giarra Djinns (England)
Amethys (USA)
More Beer FC (Australia)
Club Sportivo Sergipe (Brazil)
Lyngby BK (Denmark)
Grobari 1970 (Serbia)
Zi Huha (Vietnam)

3 favourites to fight for 2 tickets over here; Angelz, former CL Champions Giarra and Zi Huha. However, games againts Amethyst, More Beer, Lyngby and Grobari should not be taken lightly. So there are no easy matches here (except maybe Sergipe with an avg Q of 90.73).

Group F:
Sauda (Norway)
Black Pearl (Romania)
Imparaveis FC (Portugal)
Antartis (Greece)
Avengers FC (Turkey)
ITB FC (Indonesia)
Kamu FC (Germany)
Connemara United (Ireland)

Two times CL Champion Black Pearl is always favourite to advance and this season is no different. However, Sauda and Connemara will not give the Romanians easy life as they'll try both to advance. Former CL Champions Antartis are not be truffled with either and I won't be surprised to see them battling for second place.
I've just been informed by Black Pearl's manager Cyrus that he's rebuilding his team and won't compete for the CL title this season. Thus Black Peadl 2nd team will play the CL which makes Sauda and Connemara the main favourites to top the group.

Group G:
Dilligaf United (International)
Atletico Trini (Spain)
CzarneKoszule (Poland)
Klaebs Kings (Australia)
FratiFrancescani (Italy)
DansendHert (Belgium)
Dune FC (Hungary)
Seventh Heaven (Singapore)

Is DansendHert too strong for this group? Judging by avg Quality only Dune can challange them as they both favourites to overun the group. Former CL Champion Koszule and Klaebs, on the other hand, have quite an experience in the CL and at least one of them could make it through. We must not forget Dilligaf or FF who made it to the final of the CL two seasons ago.

Group H:
Northern Lights (International)
Steaua1971 Dragasani (Romania)
Melres DC (Portugal)
Tropancho (Bulgaria)
Not Exactly A Bot (Turkey)
Triple OGs (Netherlands)
FC Ruwenda (Germany)
Viitorul Dragasani (France)

Compared to the other groups, this is the weekest. Steaua Dragasani are the favourites even though their avg Q is just 96.36. 4 other teams will fight Steaua for top 2 spots: Two times CL Champion Northern Lights, Melres, NEAB and Ruwenda.

First Round will be played on Round 3 at 12:00 System Time. Follow all the action right here on DJ Blog!
