MLCL Group Stage - Round 4 (27/12/2013 01:02)

Some of you asked me to cover the Super-Cup. Please understand that it requires time that I barely have and I need your help! Scroll down for more information

After an intense first round, the second round gives us more exitement (updates will be wriiten in gold):

Group A:
Los Cruzados - The Red Warriors 6:2
Comtek - Las Leonas 1:1
Parna AC - Black and White Dreamer 1:2
Halifax City - Phoenix Baia Mare
1:0

The Game: Parma vs BWD, Ennio Taridi
BWD could make a seirous step into the next stage if they win in Serbia, Parma on the other hand have already pulled a surprise with a draw against Cruzados and hope to do even better against the Poles.
A close match but BWD win again while Parma gets the compliments. Teo Tudorach scored the lead for the Poles after 18 minutes curving beautifuly a free-kick from 24 metres and Nguyn Tri Đội could have doubled the lead at the 33 minute when BWD recieved a penalty but he missed it. BWD continued to be the better team in the second half but then Parma equalised almost out of nothin as Optimus Prime shot a perfect shot into the net. Neither team made a chance until the 82 minute when Jerry Young, with a good header, subdued Parma keeper and secured the win. Despite the lose, RZA of Parma won the MoM award.

"Good game, stronger than my team but he scored at 82 minute for victory. he was luck" (GraveDigga, Parma AC's manager)

Other Matches: Las Leonas were held to a draw against Comtek and are 3 points behind Cruzados who easily defeated Red Warriors. Halifax ended Baia Mare's hopes with a well earned win.

Group B:
All Spurs - P1cass0 3:1
Beachlife - The Evil Looking Clowns 2:0
FC Brescia - Levski Bulgaria 0:0
Craiova-Maxima - Royal FC
1:3

The Game: Brescia vs Levski, Stadio do Dragao
With beachlife looks unstoppable, both teams want to extend their lead on the chasing pack. After losing points on round 2, and tough fixturs ahead, Brescia needs a win here.
A game with only 1 shot on target, that's what these teams gave us today. Brescia was a little and can be dissapointed with the loss of 2 important points. 2 Brescia players hit 99 though, one of them Dario Bissoli awarded MoM. Brescia remains second though but they still have some tough fixtures ahead.

"A good result against a very good team. Too bad we have not taken advantage of the unique opportunity of the match" (Sir Alberto, FC Brescia's manager)

"Boring draw. I could make a big step to 1/8, but I missed this great chance" (Zlostar1111, Levski Bulgaria's manager)

Other matches: Beachlife remain perfect and now are 4 points ahead of second place Brescia. Royal cut the gap from second to 2 after a nice win away against Craiova who suffered their first lose.

Standings:

  Place Team Pts GD
(=) 1 Beachlife 12 9
(=) 2 Brescia 8 8
(=) 3 Levski 7 3
(+) 4 Royal 6 -1
(-) 5 Craiova 4 1
(+) 6 All Spurs 4 -5
(-) 7 TELC 2 -5
(=) 8 P1cass0 1 -10

Group C:
The Busby Babes - PS-NanGo 2:0
KA Barcelona - Northcountry Timberwolves 1:2
Kavalacio FC - Aslansaray 5:0
Dinamo Zaragoza - Rene1293
3:0

The Game: Barcelona vs Timberwolves, KA Barcelona's stadium
The Canadian Champions face their toughest fixture. For season they tried to put their impact on the CL and they know that if they can get a point in this match they can advance to the next stage.
Amazing win by the Canadians, Barcelona is shocked! Timberwovles started stronger with a goal by Karim Deschamps after 19 minutes. Timberwolves continued to press but Barcelona equalised from their sole attack - Myung-Bo Yuen was the goalscorer. Timberwolves kept on attacking but Barcelona keeper, Dag Gjestad, kept the scores leveled at  half time. It was Barcelona who started better the second half but they were denied by Timberwolves' keeper Pat Jennings. The match has been decided at the 78 minute when the equaliser Yuen scored an own goal and sent the Canadians to celebrate a historic win. Dixies Shiels won the MoM award. Timberwolves will go into the weekend witha good morale and high hopes of a first ever Round of 17 berth.

"Crikey, how did that happen? Lady Luck is still helping me with an own goal, but the Canadian League is getting itself slowly but surely on the map (they are some of the best tacticians and nicest guys anywhere). Three more tough games to go though" (Flirtybee, Northcountry Timberwolves' manager)

Other mathces: Kavalacio didn't make any mistakes against aslansaray and kept on first place.

Standings:

  Place Team Pts GD
(=) 1 Kavalacio 12 15
(+) 2 Timberwolves 12 7
(-) 3 Barcelona 9 9
(+) 4 Busby 6 -1
(+) 5 Zaragoza 3 -2
(-) 6 Rene1293 3 -3
(-) 7 NanGo 3 -7
(=) 8 Aslansaray 0 -18

Group D:
FC Boom - Ghostriders 0:2
Royal Arsenal FC - Hotspurs FC 1:2
FC GPRO - FC Future Ghosts 4:4
Krzay Kickers - A Portuguesa de Desportos
0:0

The Game: Royal Arsenal vs Hotspurs, Emirates Stadium
Hotspurs hope to continue their momentum against yet undefeated Royal Arsenal. After enjoying easy fixtures the Indians face their first challenge of the campaign.
Hotspurs denied Royal Arsenal to get their campaing on the right track. Hotspurs started stronger and was rewardedon the 13 minute as Tobias Carter scored with a nice header. Instead of pursuing another goal, both teams slowed their game until the 56 minute when Carter doubled the score. The hosts came alive after that and headed back to the match 3 minutes later with James Wake scoring with a header to give some hope. Both defences held on and the match was closed 7 minutes from time when Gedion Zelalem of Royal Arsenal was dismissed with a second yellow. Tobias Carter awarded MoM. This was the hosts' first lose, but they remain secod entering the weekend.

"I knew they were a superior side than mine, so I tried doing some tactical changes which nearly paid off. The red card didn't help my cause but my team gave a good fight and maintained their hold on the 2nd spot despite the lose. Overall the team performance were the same. So am happy that we are holding up against the big boys! The next two games will be very important as winning them will go a long way to help me keep in the running. The last match though will be decider and it will be against the best team in our group right now" (Haidermota PLC, Royal Arsenal FC's manager)

"I knew that match would almost decide wether I was going through or going out so I studies his tactics and realised he hasn't changed then once this season which made the game a bit more comfortable than I expected" (Spudgreg, Hotspurs FC's manager)

Other matches: Ghostriders extended their lead to 3 points after an easy win in Belgium. GPRO drew Future Ghosts in a crazy 8 goals rally, and dropped to fourth.

Standings:

  Place Team Pts GD
(=) 1 Ghostriders 12 13
(=) 2 Royal Arsenal 9 6
(+) 3 Hotspurs 9 4
(-) 4 GPRO 7 3
(=) 5 Future Ghosts 4 3
(=) 6 Krazy Kickers 4 0
(+) 7 Desportos 1 -18
(-) 8 Boom 0 -11

Group E:
Grobari 1970 - More Beer FC 0:5
Lyngby BK - Club Sportivo Sergipe 0:1
Gr8 Angelz - Zi Huha 2:5
Amethyst - Giarra Djinns
1:2

The Game: Amethyst vs Giarra, KLC Stadium
Battle for first place. Though it's only halfway it can make a gret impact on the outcome of the group. Amethyst is having a dream of a season in CL so far and after 3 round is the only perfect team in Group E. Giarra on the other hand is better on Quality so it's only tactics to decide the winner here.
Giarra beats Amethys and move into second place, behind More Beer only on GD. There was no question which team was better in the first half and Giarra were 0:2 ahead thanks to Arturia Penfragon header at the 16 minute and Ulquiorra Cifer second 8 minutes later. Amethys did hit back though at the 61 minute thanks to Ramon Augenthaler dribbling skills. He cut the defence and left the ball to Yosyp Boyko who had no problems scoring. But the hosts never threatened the English lead and the second yellow card that Steinar Larsson got 5 minutes from time didn't help either. Pendragon and Cifer both hit 99 but the earlier won the MoM award.

"Obviously it is a disappointing result. We did not play well. Luckily there are still three games left. We know that if we win the next game, we will have good chance" (Zhong, Amethyst's manager)

Other matches: More Beer outclassed Grobari to stay undefeated and move to first place before the weekend. A second lose to Gr8 Angelz, a defeat actually to Zi Huha. This had probably ended the Norwegians campaing while we didn't hear the last word from the Vietnamese. 4 teams are just null or one point within each other.

Standings:

  Place Team Pts GD
(+) 1 More Beer 10 18
(=) 2 Giarra 10 14
(-) 3 Amethyst 9 11
(=) 4 Zi Huha 9 9
(=) 5 Gr8 Angelz 6 0
(+) 6 Sergipe 3 -12
(-) 7 Grobari 0 -12
(=) 8 Lyngby 0 -28

Group F:  (Sorry about the mistake in the matches earlier)
Black Pearl - Imparaveis FC 2:0
Connemara United - Antartis 4:0
Kamu FC - Sauda 1:4
ITB - Avengerts FC
3:0

The Game: Kamu vs Sauda, Die Fabrik
The last chance for the Germans. If they want to advance they have to deafeat the Norwegians who were deadly so far in the attack. A win for Sauda and they most probably in the Round of 16.
Well It is almost sure now that Connemara and Sauda will advance as they have deafeated their toughest opponents. Sauda lost Ian Wright to an injury right after 11 minutes and Theo Walcott came off the bench to replace him. It didn't matter though as Dennis Bergkamp gave the Norwegians the lead after a one-sided half. The second half was more of the same as Bergkamp scored another one and Walcott scored a brace after Leonard Buga tried to get Kamu back to the match. Mesut Özil who assisted 2, won the MoM award.

"Manager Kamu has been temporarily suspended because of oversleeping the CL-match. The training squad couldn't stand a chance against our opponents. If we go on with Kamu as manager will see the next few matches" (Kamu FC's president)

Other matches: Connemara cruised past Antartis second team and will face Sauda in a battle for first place on Monday.

Standings:

  Place Team Pts GD
(=) 1 Sauda 12 20
(=) 2 Connemara 12 12
(+) 3 ITB 6 3
(-) 4 Kamu 6 1
(-) 5 Antartis 6 -9
(+) 6 Black Pearl 3 -8
(-) 7 Avengers 3 -9
(-) 8 Imparaveis 0 -10

Group G:
Klaebs Kings - Seventh Heaven 2:1
Dilligaf United - CzarneKoszule 0:4
FratiFrancescani - Dune FC 1:2
DansendHert - Atletico Trini
1:0

The Game: DansendHert vs Trini, OR2KEY
Another test for Atletico while DansendHert want to bounce back on track. Group G is maybe the most interesting group of all with no clear favourite to advance (except maybe Koszule). Add a surprising team like Trini and you get a group that each match is a crunch match. I bet the gamblers here are confused too.
Though it is not shown by the rating, that was a close match! Maradona scored the winner 5 minutes into the second half. Gullit, who assisted the winning goal, won the MoM award. Dissapointment in Trini who lost their first match and dropped to fourth on the expense of DansendHert who improved to third.

"Great performance of my players. We overclassed our opponent today. This result must give us a boost to beat Klaebs Kings on Monday and open the door for qualification" (dansendhert, DansendHert's manager)

Other matches: Klaebs barely won against Seventh Heaven to improve to second, but they're ahead of the Belgiums only by number of goals. Dune is also still in the race after a win against FF. Koszule kept its first place.

Standings:

  Place Team Pts GD
(=) 1 Koszule 12 9
(+) 2 Klaebs 9 3
(+) 3 DansendHert 9 3
(-) 4 Trini 7 2
(+) 5 Dune 6 -2
(-) 6 FF 4 1
(=) 7 Seventh Heaven 0 -6
(=) 8 Dilligaf 0 -10

Group H:
Triple OGs - FC Ruwenda 2:1
Steaua1971 Dragasani - Melres DC 5:0
Northern Lights - Not Exactly A Bot 5:0
Tropancho - Viitorul Dragasani
1:1

The Games: NL vs NEAB, Aurora Borealis Stadium & Steaua1971 vs Melres, Santiago Bernabeu
After a round without a report, group H welcomes us back with two interesting matches! It's the first against the second and third against fourth. NEAB is perfect and showing brilliant performance so far, NL is undefeated too but their matches were much closer.
Melres gets another chance to get close to the top with a challenge against Steaua1971.
NotBot must be furious with Altair al-Wasiti. After getting a yellow card 3 minutes into the match, he fouled inside the penalty area and was sent off, leaving NEAB no chance against an opponent of such class. Pericle Avram scored a hattrick (two of them in penalties) and Ron Hue scored a brace to put NL in first place.
Melres for some reason didn't play with its first lineup. Steaua1971 said thanks and won 5:0 and improved to second place.

"Congrats to my opponent, she deserved the win. After early red card, I couldn't resist too long with 2 defenders, which was also my tactical mistake" (NotBot, Not Exactly A Bot's manager)

Other matches: OGs kept alive with a win against Ruwenda. Viitorul is probably out after a draw against Tropancho.

Standings:

  Place Team Pts GD
(+) 1 NL 10 7
(+) 2 Steaua1971 9 11
(-) 3 NEAB 9 6
(+) 4 OGs 7 0
(-) 5 Melres 6 -6
(=) 6 Viitorul 4 -2
(+) 7 Tropancho 1 -8
(-) 8 Ruwenda 0 -8
