It's been a while since I updated this blog-thing now. These times around a season-change are always stressfull, and leave little time for anything "want-to-do" as opposed to the "have-to-do". With the first round of league-matches complete just now (and 13,1% faster than in the previous season), I can "rest" assured that all the bits and pieces of the season-change have gone well. It usually does though, except if I'm on vacation, but thats just life. (-:
Life is actually rather interesting at the moment. Actually, in my own opinion, it usually is. As you may or may not know, my wife is rather pregnant, and a Mini-Spinner is due some time early January. And as such things do, this will impact even ManagerLeague a bit when the times comes. Oh, and before you ask, no, we will not have a "Name the baby" competition here, my wife and daughter already won that one. We might have a "Guess the date of birth" -competition though.
I hear there is a Chinese curse which goes something like "May you live in interesting times". Admittedly, times CAN be too interesting, no doubt. In my experience, December is usually such a time. Including my own birthday on the 9th, my close family has to get through no fewer than 5 birthdays this month alone. Then you can add at least 5 "family gatherings" over Christmas, and we've blown 10 days on celebrations already. Then there is "last-day-at-school" for our daughter, with plays and lotteries and whatnot, and the same kind of thing with her handball-team. Thats 12. And it's hard to get through Christmas without spending at least 3 afternoons shopping presents. So thats 15. This Friday was a great Christmas-party here in the office (we were invited to join those we rent office-space from), so that makes it 16. Then there is all the non-present-shopping December calls for, getting a tree in, baking ginger-cakes and god-knows-what-else. Thats at least 2 more afternoons. That leaves us at 18.Oh, and to be realistic, with all these parties going on, lets add two afternoons to allow for being hung-over. I spent one on Saturday already actually, so I have just 1 to spare.
Oh, thats right, New Years Eve too. Thats 21. 21 extra-ordinary things to make life more interesting in December. Interesting times indeed!
So I'm just hoping my wife will do what she can to make sure the baby waits until January :)
When the baby comes, I have some time off coming my way, big-time!
No, I'm not going to take 3 months daddy-pension and be gone, but I will make use of some saved up vacation from last year, and do as little as possible while the going gets tough. Because I'm sure it will !
As you probably know, I'll be looking at working a bit with the Portal in December. Design, usability, wasted space, wasted sections, information-needs and data-flow. Stuff like that. So don't expect much to happen inside the game, unless someone brings a really cool new idea ;) Oh, and the translations needs updating too, bigtime. So I'll have to do that to. Oh, thats right, we have a little surprise coming up in a few days, that might be a quite cool Christmas-gift! You'll see it soon enough though, so I'll not say anything more about that.
I was hoping to find the time to get us a little extra fun during Christmas though, with some fast speed-games. Not sure there is much time though, I'm not working all the way through the Christmas-week, thats for sure :)
