32! (09/12/2006 17:06) |
Yes, really. Today is Saturday the 9th of December. I am now officially 32 years old. And I must say, I woke up this morning, with some extra nerves. You see, things start happening... When I turned 30, I got fatter, for no apparent reason. It's cool, not a big problem (maybe I'm too old to even care!). When I turned 31, the amount of hair on my head reached "critical mass" and obviously its all skinhead from now on. So, it is no great wonder I woke up this morning with my nerves in a bunch, wondering what the heck was going to stop working now! It ok though, I see my inbox is full of offers on Viagra, so how bad can it be? Historically, December 9th is also the birthday of Tre Cool (drummer in Green Day), Kirk Douglas, Paul Landers (Rammstein guitarist) and Reiko Aylesworth ( better known as Michelle in the 24 series ). Not that I called them to congratulate, I figured they could call me first! As far as I know, with the exception of being Tanzania's independence day, it's a pretty boring date, with no huge events attached to it. I am glad to have changed that. :) 1974 - December 9th - Spinner The First was born. I would like someone to fix Wikipedia to display that piece of vital information, since someone has messed up and left it out. So, what about the number 32 then? For the nerdy reader who might crawl his way in here, we know that 32 is quite a special number, at least bitwise. The binary number for 32 is 100000, which absolutely is a round and special number. 32 is also a Leyland number since 24 + 42 = 32. 32 is also the atomic number of germanium and the freezing point of water at sea level in degrees Fahrenheit! 32 is also the number of teeth of a full set of teeth in an adult human, including wisdom teeth. 32 is also ASCII and Unicode code for space. 32 is also, in chess, the total number of black squares on the board, the total number of white squares, and the total number of pieces (black and white) at the beginning of the game. 32 is also the code for international direct dial phone calls to Belgium. 32 is also the age of Jesus Christ when he was crucified. 32 might also be the number of glasses of champagne I drank during last weeks Christmas party! Oh dear. This would also be a nice place to thank my wife, a bunch of my friends, my dad, my parents-in-law and Chairman, for the great gifts they had all chipped in on. As some might have picked up on, I have picked up photography as a hobby recently, and today I got my first proper flash, and a wonderful 50 mm f/1.8 lens. As I take most of my pictures indoor, these are extremely useful tools for taking better pictures, avoiding the nasty regular harsh-contrast-shots with "ordinary" flash and so on. So, pretty cool ( and pretty expensive) stuff. So a huge thanks to all of you responsible for making sure my pictures will be better :) And I promise to get off the computer now, and enjoy my birthday, and take lots of pictures! |
